Mike McKay was born on March 10, 1946 in Cherokee, Oklahoma. Mike studied Business at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma.
As Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, Mike is responsible for planning, scheduling, and oversight of all jobs and contracts. Mike is also responsible for all aspects of the company’s quality control subscribing to the belief that an innovative company cannot rest on its past successes.
In 1962, as a junior in high school, Mike walked into his father’s three chair barber shop in Cherokee, Oklahoma and said to his Dad ‘I want to be a Barber, just like you.’ His Dad took it upon himself to train Mike in the Baber business and offered him a chair to cut hair next to him. Mike and his Dad worked side by side cutting hair until Mike went off to college. Mike cut hair through college in Alva, Oklahoma and continued to operate his own shop until 1972 when a routine haircut turned into an impromptu interview with a National Sales Manager for National Chem Search. That haircut led to the start of Mike’s career in the sales industry as a chemical salesman for National Chem Search. His immediate success as the company’s top sales representative in his area led to his recruitment by Pioneer Chemical Company in 1973. Mike took over as Regional Sales Manager covering the company’s Kansas and Oklahoma markets. Mike trained dozens of salesmen throughout the region for Pioneer Chemical also serving as one of the company’s large account directors. In 1981, Mike moved from chemical sales to technology sales. He signed on with a local company called Enid 2-Way who specialized in building cell phone and 2-way radio towers throughout Oklahoma. Mike was charged with developing the market base for the company’s product line of police scanners, 2-way communication devices, and portable cellular phone systems. Mike was instrumental in equipping many local municipalities, emergency management departments, first responders, police departments, sheriff’s offices, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, fire departments, the oilfield industry, and Oklahoma and Southern Kansas’ farming community with this new technology. As a trained storm spotter for the Alfalfa County Sheriff’s Office, Mike provided 2-way radio communication to all trained county spotters to increase efficiency in reporting procedures of severe weather outbreaks. Mike retired from the radio business in 1995 and took a part time job at a local Ford dealer so he could keep working with people. The part time job lead to Mike receiving several local dealership awards including Salesman of the Month and Salesman of the Year on several occasions. Mikes passion for exemplary service after the sale earned him National recognition from Ford Motor Company as he was awarded the distinguished Legends and Leaders award as one of the top 15% of salesmen for Ford Motor Company in the Southwest United States. He earned this award for three straight years.
In 2000, Mike’s son Jett, asked him to join him in the commercial roofing business by heading up and developing a new market in the State of Oklahoma. Mikes efforts quickly made the Oklahoma division one of the top producing divisions in the company. In 2002, much like he was able to do with his own father, Mike and his son decided to go into business together founding Pinnacle Limited. Since that time, Mike has overseen tens of thousands of squares of roof installations and has assisted in negotiating over $40 Million dollars in insurance claim settlements. His fervor for sales and his commitment to exemplary customer service before, during, and after the sale are the foundation on which Pinnacle Limited was founded.
